Barcelona agree terms with up and coming Sevilla defender

As per a report published by Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants have already secured an early summer agreement with Sevilla for 22-year-old Clement Lenglet.

Lenglet is a central defender who has been on Sevilla's books since early 2017, after moving into the Spanish La Liga from the French Ligue 1.

He made 77 appearances for recently relegated French Ligue 2 side Nancy between 2013-2016.

Sevilla snatched the youthful centre-back from Nancy for a modest 5 million euro. A purchase that in hindsight has been an absolute banker for the Spanish high flyers with Lenglet buy out clause now being 35 million euros.

The Frenchman has made 34 out of a possible 37 La Liga appearances, whilst also proving a vital asset in Sevilla's unexpected Champions League run, which ended in the semi-finals against Bayern Munich.

With Gerard Pique nearing the end of a wonderful career, Barcelona are willing to offer Sevilla exactly what they want in order to bring one of football's brightest young defenders to the camp Nou well before the 2018/19 season.

Further reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that Lenglet has turned several heads in the top leagues of world football; however, Barcelona have taken big strides forward in their pursuit of the French full-back over the last couple of days.

It is thought that the Catalan outfit will simply activate Lenglet's 35 million euro release clause in the coming weeks, assuring the young gun finds his way to the North-East coast early this summer.

Will he be able to fill the very big boots left behind by some of the greatest defenders to play the game?

Let us know what you think.
