Football fans, pundits and journalists have raged about the money involved in football for years but there may be no better example of clubs having too much to spend than the case involving the Chinese Super League and Barcelona's Arda Turan.
Turan reached an agreement with the Camp Nou club in the Summer of 2015, with the club still under a transfer embargo, meaning the Turkish playmaker was unable to officially sign until January of this year. Just as the former Atletico Madrid man was set to confirm himself as a Barca player, though, after six months without competitive action, an unnamed Chinese Super League club bid £45m for him.

Speaking to Beyaz TV, Turan revealed "Last season a club from China offered £45m to Barcelona for me, but they rejected it because I'm a long-term project. Barcelona didn't sign me just for six months."
The recently minted clubs of China have lured the likes of Jackson Martinez, Alex Teixeira, Ramires and Hulk over the past year and were keen on making Turan one of the latest jewels in the league's crown. Luis Enrique will likely be relieved that Turan opted to remain in Catalonia, given how the Turkey captain has registered five goals and four assists already, this season.
