The Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal stories look likely to run all the way through to transfer deadline day on Wednesday, with the Gabonese striker still a Borussia Dortmund player due to Arsenal being unable to match the Bundesliga giants' asking price for him.

Aubameyang has drawn the ire of Dortmund's fans over the last few weeks, having been banished from the first team for 'unprofessional' conduct as he seeks to secure a move away from Signal Iduna Park.

However, after Arsenal failed to secure a deal for the former African Player Of The Year this week, Aubameyang was drafted back into BVB's first team squad for this weekend's Bundesliga clash with Freiburg.

The free scoring striker was met with a cacophony of boos by the Dortmund support, though, and was also greeted with a banner that read 'No Player Is Bigger Than Our Club'.

Aubameyang has not taken the criticism lying down, however, and has responded on Instagram with a simple message of 'Hate Me Or Love Me' followed by a series of emoticons, two of which are newspapers, referencing the stories that have been written about him over the last few weeks.

Arsenal have been linked with Aubameyang ever since it became clear Alexis Sanchez would be leaving the club.

However, despite Dortmund's asking price being somewhere in the region of £60 million, which is not unreasonable nowadays for a striker with 141 goals in 213 games to his name, over the last five seasons, the Gunners have been able to provide an offer suitable enough for the Bundesliga outfit to consider selling their biggest asset.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said of a potential deal for Aubameyang, "We are ready to realise a transfer under certain parameters, but only if these [parameters] are fully met.

"He confirmed that "Arsenal have made several attempts thus far, but we have refused them all."

Will Arsenal get their man before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, though?
