It is being reported that Arsenal are keen on bringing experienced Brazilian defender Thiago Silva to the club this summer, with former teammate David Luiz expected to play a key part in a potential deal.

Silva, who will turn 36 in September, will leave Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2019/20 season after a successful eight year spell at the club.

The former AC Milan centre-back will be available on a free transfer after the conclusion of the club's Champions League campaign in August.

And with that in mind, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has already contacted Silva about a possible move, according to Le10Sport.

It is believed that international teammate David Luiz is serving as an 'intermediary' between the club and Silva, as other Premier League clubs, including Everton, hover around his signature.

Of course, David Luiz penned a new one-year deal at the Emirates last week, much to the bemusement of many Arsenal fans.

But the potential transfer of Thiago Silva, who has made 89 appearances for his country, will almost certainly be met with positive feedback.

As mentioned earlier, another Premier League club who are interested in signing Silva are Everton, who are managed by Silva's former boss Carlo Ancelotti.

It was reported earlier this month that Everton had reportedly opened talks with the defender over a potential free transfer.

And according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Ancelotti will be a decisive factor, although Arsenal's latest move could thwart a deal.
