With the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lucas Perez, Kieran Gibbs and Paulista all departing in the summer window, many fans wanted more signings in order to rebuild and challenge for trophies.

Arsene Wenger managed to persuade Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac to move to Arsenal, but some believed it simply wasn't enough to challenge for the 2017/18 Premier League title.

Months after the summer window slammed shut, Arsenal fans may be encouraged to hear that the club has apparently got a 'top transfer target'.

According to Sky Sports via James Nalton, Napoli midfielder Jorginho, a player who is capped twice by the Italian national team, is being monitored as a transfer target by Arsenal.

He would be seen as the ideal fit to add that extra quality to their central midfield options, but the player may appear to be too important to the club for them to sign off his departure mid-season.

Xhaka has arguably been inconsistent in the centre for Arsenal in recent weeks, while Santi Cazorla continues to struggle with injury on the sidelines.

Known for his ability to control a game with his impressive range of passing and control, the Brazilian holding midfielder has become a key player in the base of Napoli's midfielder under Sarri.

The 25-year-old made 31 appearances in all competitions last term.

According to Il Mattino, via Club Call, Premier League side Bournemouth tabled an ambitious 20 million euros bid for the Brazilian-born Italian in the summer, but Napoli instantly rebuffed their advances.

Jorginho arrived in Naples, initially on a co-ownership deal, in January 2014, after impressing for Hellas Verona.

As we mentioned earlier, he has become a vital player in Napoli's midfield and made 31 appearances in all competitions last term.

But would he suit the Premier League? Would Wenger get the best out of the Brazilian?
