That Pep Guardiola left Yaya Toure out of his Champions League squad should come as no surprise to anyone. After all, the Manchester City manager is the man who deemed the Ivorian midfielder surplus to requirements at Barcelona, back in 2008. Toure's agent, on the other hand, believes his client is owed an apology from the former Barca boss.

Dimitri Seluk is seemingly incensed with Guardiola's treatment of his client, with the City boss happy to sideline Toure and not even have him figure in his plans for continental competition, despite the Ivory Coast star once being considered one of City's most valuable assets.

Seluk has now said that Guardiola will owe him an apology should City fail to win the competition, although has conceded that should the Citizens lift their first European Cup in Cardiff next year, that he'll acknowledge the Catalan as the world's greatest manager.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, Seluk said:

"If he wins the Champions League for City this season then I will travel to England and I will say on television that Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world.

"But if City don't win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya."

"This is Pep's decision and we must respect it. Yaya is a professional and so he will do everything he is asked to do.

"Perhaps Pep will think he is good enough to play in the final 10 minutes of a League Cup game against a third division team - and, yes, I am joking."

Despite being shunted to the sidelines, Toure will not seek a move away from the Etihad in January, according to Seluk.
