The post-season is not proving to be all that enjoyable for Tottenham at the moment. Not only have no new signings been brought in so far, but the club's injury problems are steadily getting worse.

And Mauricio Pochettino has been given another headache, after Son Heung-Min returned to South Korea, following his country's 3-2 defeat to Qatar, with his arm in a cast.

Son was substituted after half an hour, following a challenge with Mohammed Musa.

At the time, the severity of the injury wasn't entirely clear, but having undergone surgery for what was revealed to be a broken right forearm, it has been revealed that the former Bayer Leverkusen man will be out of action for a substantial amount of time.

With Erik Lamela and Danny Rose's long-term injury problems showing no immediate signs of improvement, with both players expected to miss the beginning of the new season, a serious injury to Son is the last thing Pochettino would have wanted.

The Times are now reporting that Son will also not be fit in time for the start of the 2017/18 campaign, potentially missing three months of action.

Per the Times report:

Tottenham Hotspur could be without three first-team players for the start of the season after Son Heung-min was ruled out for up to three months following surgery on his broken right forearm.

South Korea doctors expect Son to then be out for at least four weeks before he can start pre-season work. There are fears that he may miss the national side's World Cup qualifying matches against Iran, on August 31, and Uzbekistan, five days later.

Should Son miss the first month of the new season, Spurs would be without him for games against Newcastle, Chelsea, Burnley, Everton and Swansea, with the 23rd September match against West Ham his most likely return date.

Son became an integral part of Pochettino's side who finished second in the league, last season, their highest ever placing in the Premier League era. The South Korean international hit an impressive 21 goals in 46 appearances, which shows just how much he will be missed by the North London side at the beginning of the upcoming campaign.
