The 10 Greatest Football Films Of All Time Have Been Ranked
John Huston's Escape to Victory has beaten cult classics like Goal! and Bend It Like Beckham to be named the best football film in history.
Victory follows the story of POWs in a German prison camp during the Second World War as they prepare to face a German team in a football match.
And the film, which was released in 1981, featured Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine alongside football legends like Pele and Bobby Moore.
Goal compiled the rankings and placed Victory at the top of the pile, saying that many fans would consider it the "perfect football film."
Finishing as runner-up to Victory is The Damned United, which featured Michael Sheen as Brian Clough during his ill-fated spell at Leeds in the 1970s.
The publication praised the "moving" and "delicate" relationship shown between Clough and Peter Taylor.
But Goal pointed out that "Clough's family and a number of the real figures portrayed in the film have been critical of alleged inaccuracies in it."
Gurinder Chadha's cult classic Bend It Like Beckham came third and "remains a cultural reference point for many."
The film follows Jesminder 'Jess' Bhamra as she rebels against her traditional Indian Sikh parents by joining a women's football team.
"At once inspiring, thoughtful and genuinely funny, the film's commentary on issues of race and multiculturalism in modern Britain remains relevant and well-pitched and a stage musical version began in London's West End in 2015," the publication said of its No 3 placing.
Goal!, which is often considered one of the best football films of all time, controversially finished fourth in the rankings.
