Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier has been forced to disable comments on his social media accounts after being blamed for Eden Hazard's injury hell.

Hazard is sidelined with injury yet again and has been told he may 'never play football again' if he wants a third ankle operation.

Plagued by injury since sealing a big money move to Real Madrid in 2019, the problems stemmed from a tackle he was involved in with compatriot Meunier in a game between Real and PSG in November of that year - as per MARCA.

It's said that this injury has led to further complications for Hazard, who has suffered 11 different injuries and featured just 25 times in La Liga for Los Blancos.

At the time, Meunier was incredibly apologetic, telling La Dernière Heure: "I am honestly sad. I tried to contact him directly after the match, but I couldn't reach him.

"Aside from that, I saw two or three of his team-mates who said that he had taken quite a hit. I cross my fingers that it is not too bad. If there is one player who I really don't want to injure, it's Eden."

But as a result, Meunier has been receiving a whole lot of hate from Real fans on social media.

He's turned off comments on his Instagram pictures and switched off replies to his tweet, while still being flooded with abuse on his official Facebook page.

Belgium talisman and captain Hazard is a major doubt for the European Championships in the summer, with the former Lille man travelling to London for a second opinion on whether he should have surgery.

Real want any potential surgery postponed while Belgium understandably want him fit and ready for when June rolls around.

Speaking earlier this week, Zinedine Zidane could find no logical explanation for why Hazard has been ravaged by injury since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.

He said: "They're things that I can't explain. I want to be positive and hope that it's not too much of a problem.

"Something's up, because he was never injured in his entire career (before joining Real) or there were very few injuries. It's something new.

"I can't really give any more of an explanation. We want to help him and hope he's back as soon as possible.

"We're going to try and figure out why it's happening (the club's injuries), but right now we can't explain it. We've spoken about things like the lack of pre-season, amount of games and the mental aspect."
