Manchester United defender Phil Jones' injury nightmare looks set to continue after he suffered yet another setback during his recovery from a knee injury he sustained a few weeks ago.

Following tweaking his knee ligaments in training, Jones will now have to wear a knee brace to aid the joints, extending his stay on the sidelines. It was expected he'd be out for a month, though the new update will keep him out of action for a lot longer further impacting his misery.

After completing his £16.5 million signing from Blackburn Rovers, the 24-year-old's Old Trafford career has been blighted with numerous injuries including an ankle knock which has prevented him from the pitch since January.

His last appearance in a United shirt was then against Swansea City when he only managed to get 45 minutes under his belt before picking up an injury.

The season started well, too. Jones was involved in Wayne Rooney's testimonial against Everton in August as well as being included in Jose Mourinho's first team squad for the Premier League and Europa League.

Jones had been subject to interest from fellow Premier League sides Stoke City and Arsenal, among others, but any hope of a mid-season deal could be curtailed after these latest reports have emerged. His ongoing fitness battle carries on.
