There's A Ridiculous Transfer Rumour About Wesley Sneijder Possibly Coming To England

For years, Wesley Sneijder has been continually linked with making the move to the Premier League but it's never quite happened.

It seems like every summer he's on the verge of joining Manchester United, before nothing ever materalises.

Chelsea were also heavily linked with the Dutchman over the years, but again a deal never took place despite the persistent rumours.

And now the rumours are Sneijder finally coming to England have gone up another gear, with the latest story completely and utterly bizarre.

Turkish Newspaper Fotomac say that Sunderland (yes you are reading that correctly) have their eyes on the 32-year old attacking midfielder.

The story goes that Sunderland's Jeremain Lens, on loan in Turkey with Fenerbahce, has a whole host of admirers keen on snapping him up permanently.

Fenerbahce want to alter his deal from a temporary basis to permanent, while Besiktas, currently top of the Turkish Super Lig, are showing interest.

Galatasaray are in for the former PSV winger, though, and are said to have met with Sunderland chiefs to discuss details of a potential deal.

However, Fotomac say that Sunderland came back with a proposal that would see Lens move to Galatasaray and Sneijder deployed as a sweetner in the deal. The Instanbul club are said to have rejected the notion instantly, as you would expect.

Even if Sneijder, a one-time Champons League winner, is getting on a bit and is past his best days, that's absurd.

Wesley Sneijder has won league titles in Holland, Italy and Spain with Ajax, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, we're sure he's absolutely desperate to playing in the Championship alongside the likes of Darron Gibson, John O'Shea and Victor Anichebe under David Moyes next season.
