Lionel Messi has responded to claims he has two offers to leave Barcelona.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has a special clause in his Barca contract that allows him to terminate his deal at the end of every season - something both Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol had the option to do during their time at the Nou Camp.

The Argentine has been at odds with his employers on a number of occasions of late, notably slamming sporting director Eric Abidal as well as his strong statement on the Blaugrana players taking a 70 per cent pay decrease due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

TNT Sports reported that Inter Milan and Newell's Old Boys, where he spent the first part of his development, are waiting in the wings should he make a decision on his future.

Journalist Martin Castilla said: "Leo has an offer from Newell's Old Boys to return home, but Inter are pushing and what Moratti said is true.

"They are ready for negotiations, then the decision will be Messi's. But Inter are certainly working on it."

However, Messi himself had taken to Instagram to completely deny the rumours, branding them "fake news".

Former Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti had recently been discussing Messi possibly heading to the San Siro, though he did also admit part of him was speaking as a fan and he has no knowledge of a potential deal.

It's hard to imagine Messi in a different shirt but former Barca player Francisco Carrasco thinks there's a strong chance that the 32-year old departs the club in the near future.

"He [Messi] is ill at ease," Carrasco told El Chiringuito, via AS, in February.

"In all the years I've been watching him and have loved the way he plays, it's the first time Messi has looked to me like he has one foot out of the door. I've never had to say that before."

Messi has scored an outrageous 627 goals at club level for Barcelona, in addition to breaking countless individual records at the Nou Camp.
