Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest active goalscorer in world football.

Including national team and club goals at youth level, the Portuguese superstar has reached a staggering 738 goals in 1030 games at the top level.

His recent goals against Parma, Roma and Napoli means he has moved ahead of German legend Gerd Muller into fifth in the all-time rankings, eight behind Hungary icon Ferenc Puskas.

Lionel Messi isn't too far off Ronaldo, however. As per RSSF, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner scored his 718th and 719th goals in 903 games last night against Leganes.

In third is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is still going strong at the ripe old age of 38. Sweden's all-time top scorer has recently returned to AC Milan after leaving LA Galaxy and his two goals in his second spell have brought him to 545 goals in 920 games.

Luis Suarez's is the second Barcelona player on the list with a total of 475 goals, ten more than Bayern Munich and Poland goal machine Robert Lewandowski.

The unknown quantity of the last is sixth-placed Maldives captain Ali Ashfaq, who has 463 goals in 544 goals - giving him an goals per game ratio of 0.85.

Uruguayan journeyman Sebastián Abreu, who has turned out for a total of 25 clubs in 11 different countries, occupies seventh. Currently player-coach at Boston River, he has bagged 430 in 837 games.

Manchester City marksman Sergio Aguero is the only current Premier League representative. His impressive tally of 428 in 766 games across his career sees him lie in eighth on the rankings, ahead of latter duo Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Edinson Cavani.
