Peter Crouch has a quite brilliant story of how he and the rest of the Liverpool squad went on a go-karting outing ahead of the Champions League final and things went a bit wrong.

In 2007, a week before the big game against AC Milan, Rafa Benitez's side went to Portugal for a training camp and the players went to a go-karting track.

Crouchy spiralled a little out of control and with no ability the brakes on, was resigned to crashing into one of his teammates - it was an inevitability.

But as the big man explained, he had to choose between crashing into the midfield metronome Xabi Alonso, or hitting workhorse Dirk Kuyt and simply going off who was more important to the team, he swerved into the Dutchman in an incident he called "quite dangerous".

Telling the brilliant story i an interview with Four Four Two, Crouch said: "I think it was before the Champions League final. I think we were in Portugal, we had a week before the game and we went away and we were training and we went go-karting.

"Went out, obviously going around the track and I've come in, I've flown into the pit obviously where we stop. I thought right I'll just brake now. No brakes whatsoever.

"I'm just coming into the pit and I've seen [Xabi] Alonso and I've seen Kuyt and I thought who's more valuable?

"So I've swerved into Kuyt and fair play to him he literally jumped with his legs like that [gestures to the side] and I've gone straight through him.

"God's honest truth it was quite dangerous, but obviously I can laugh about it now because I didn't cause any injury."

Fortunately Kuyt did not sustain an injury but Liverpool would end up losing the final in Athens. Filippo Inzaghi bagged two to put the Rossoneri 2-0 up and Liverpool only replied once, through Kuyt.
