A simple but effective piece of advice from Jurgen Klopp on Mo Salah's competitive Liverpool debut helped transform the Egyptian king into a goalscoring phenomenon.

The former Roma man played against Watford in his first Premier League game for Liverpool but his opening 45 minutes weren't particularly impressive and Klopp felt his No.11 needed to make a slight but necessary tweak to his game.

According to Goal's Neil Jones, who has provided a detailed report into the secrets behind Salah's success story, the Liverpool boss deemed him to be playing too high and too wide - making it easy for the opposition to deal with him.

He is said to have told Salah his above findings at half-time and the 25-year old was able to be much more impactful in the second half, winning a penalty and scoring a close-range tap-in in the 3-3 draw.

It would be fair to say that Salah has done much more than meet his manager's demands in his second crack at English football.

Quite the opposite to your typically touchline-hugging winger, he comes in off the right flank to devastating effect and has added a further 39 goals to his collection in all competitions. He's shown this season that he's anything but a one-trick pony and score all types of goals - left foot, right foot and headers.

Five goals ahead of Harry Kane in the league, the PFA Player of the Year leading contender looks nailed on to win the Premier League Golden boot.

But as big an achievement as winning the individual accolade would be, he's all about the team.

Salah's heroics across the two Champions League quarter final fixtures against Manchester City sealed a showdown with former club Roma in the semi-finals and he says he'd trade the Golden boot for a sixth European Cup triumph for the Reds.

"If you had a choice, then of course it is the Champions League," he told the Daily Mail.

"I have no doubt. To win the Champions League is huge for everyone. I don't care about the rest."
