Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta was struck by a bottle in a nasty bust-up after the game at Old Trafford, and reports have emerged claiming that Romelu Lukaku was responsible.

In the 2-1 win, City completely and utterly outclassed United on their own patch to go 11 points clear at the top of the table and the visiting players made sure they enjoyed the sweet victory.

However, Jose Mourinho, the man who once celebrated getting to a Champions League final by running around the Nou Camp pitch and winding up Victor Valdes, was unhappy with the way in which City celebrated in the dressing room.

And an ugly 20-man fracas, which sounds much worse than the infamous 'Battle of the Buffet'' between United and Arsenal in 2004, ensued.

Former Everton and Arsenal midfielder Arteta was caught up in the beef and had blood streaming down his face following a split on his eyebrow.

According to Cadena Ser, via The Mirror, Lukaku, who gifted City two goals and spurned a golden chance to level matters late on, was the culprit.

As per Daniel Taylor from The Guardian, the Belgian striker was "prominently" involved in the melee that took place in a narrow corridor outside City's dressing room.

The story goes that the fracas stemmed from Jose Mourinho allegedly entering the City dressing room and telling the visitors to keep the music down.

He became involved in a heated exchange with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, with the two shouting at each-other in Portuguese.

Following this, Mourinho is then said to have accused the City shotstopper of feigning injury and time-wasting, before shouting "you fucking show respect. Who are you?".

Things escalated from there, with police and stewards having to intervene to stop a bust-up that included 20 players and staff from both set of teams.

Widespread reports say punches were thrown, Mourinho is said to have had a bottle thrown at him as well as being soaked in milk and water, in addition to Arteta suffering a cut in a nasty turn of events.

James Ducker from The Telegraph is reporting that the FA are launching an investigation into the tunnel row.
