Cristiano Ronaldo was not tracked by Frenkie De Jong for his 125th Champions League goal last night but the Portuguese superstar was left frustrated by the Dutch midfielder in the second half at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The Barcelona-bound 21-year old had 117 touches in the game - more than any other player on the pitch by quite some distance - and completed 90 out of the 98 passes he attempted against Juventus.

De Jong completely ran the game from deep, with Juventus 'players struggling to get disrupt his rhythm.

And at one point in the second half, Ronaldo was so frustrated with his side's lack of pressing as the ball was played into the former Willem II man, that he threw his arms up in the air.

De Jong then played a typically tidy pass in between the lines for Ajax to transition into the attack.

The 34-year old has showed similar discontent previously in a Juve shirt, having a go at manager Massimiliano Allegri in the win over Napoli in March.

Allegri, meanwhile, spoke glowingly about De Jong's performance in the Champions League quarter final first leg.

"De Jong is the real source of their game," the Juventus boss said to UEFA.com.

"We tried to control him with (Rodrigo) Bentancur in the early stages but, when he understood that, he moved deeper, and the forwards had to work hard on him. He played very well.

"Ajax have great qualities. They keep the ball well even when there are no spaces. I think we defended well even if we had to be better when we won the ball in midfield."
