Nicolai Jorgensen and Christian Eriksen have just combined to produce an absolute pearler of an opening goal in the Group C clash with Australia.

Feyenoord striker Jorgensen turned superbly and flicked the ball to onrushing Spurs midfield maestro Eriksen, who absolutely leathered the ball past Mat Ryan in the Aussie goal with his supposedly weaker left peg.

The technique was absolutely out of this world and some say the net is still bulging such was the venom that Eriksen hit it with.

Because of the sheer quality of the goal, the combination of deft flick into thunderous strike, it caused Ally McCoist, on co-commentary for the game, to state that we'll struggle to see a better World Cup goal throughout the tournament.

The stunning half volley was the perfect way for Eriksen to open his account in the showpiece, and it continues his incredible run of form for his country. 13 goals and five assists in his last 15 games is just plain silly.

Denmark's main man has been doing the absolute business thus far and may he continue to be a joy to watch in Russia...
