WATCH: Iceland Team Get Incredible Heroes Welcome On Return Home

A heroes welcome is no more than Iceland's players deserve after the terrific series of performances at Euro 2016 and that is precisely what Lars Lagerbäck and Heimir Hallgrímsson's men received upon their return to Reykjavik, yesterday.

Iceland may have been comprehensively beaten by hosts France 5-2 in the quater-finals, but for the smallest country to ever compete at a European Championships Iceland's achievements in their first major tournament was nothing short of miraculous. And their fans let them know as much by turning out in their thousands to Viking Clap their appreciation for their heroes.

The clap, performed at each of Iceland's games during the tournament, has proved to be one of the most endearing memories of Euro 2016, but never has it generated more goosebumps than it does on this video.
