Udinese Players Wore 11 Different Kits Against Lazio For A Brilliant Reason

A brilliant initiative.

Udinese's outfield players did the unusual act of wearing 10 different kits for their Serie A clash with Lazio.

Goalkeeper Albino Bizarro wore a green shirt from last season, one outfielder wore this season's, while the other 9 members of the starting eleven wore modified versions of the club's home shirts from the last 11 years - ranging from the 1993-94 kit right through to 2016/17's.

But the club didn't just bring back a smorgasbord of their old shirts for nothing, the whole point was for them to be auctioned off during the game - the highest bidder taking home the shirt.

The funds paid for each individual shirt went towards a selected project a different Udinese supporter is working on.

For instance, the most expensive purchase of €1,700 euros (£1,480.88) for the 2002/03 home shirt will help cover the funds for a documentary for the Friuli village in north-east Italy, while the 500 euros offer for goalkeeper's shirt from last year will help one fan set up an animal shelter.

The wonderful scheme, which is being run alongside the club's shirt sponsor, Dacia, raised a total of €9,450 euros (£8,227.53).

Unfortunately for Udinese, they couldn't mark the occasion with a victory. Kevin Lasagna put the hosts ahead 13 minutes in but goals from Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto gave third-placed Lazio the win away from home.
