Real Madrid Matched An Incredible Bayern Munich Record During Atleti Game

Very, very impressive by Zidane's men

It seems as if Real Madrid can barely go a game without setting some kind of record over the past couple of seasons, whether that's as a collective or individually.

Zinedine Zidane's men are a free scoring, trophy hoarding bunch who have just reached their second successive Champions League final and have also equalled a mightily impressive record along the way.

Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to city rivals Atletico during the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Vicente Calderon, Isco's goal just before half-time meant that Zinedine Zidane's men matched a record set by Bayern Munich three years ago.

The Spanish midfielder's tap in, which he converted after reacting the quickest to Jan Oblak's terrific save from Toni Kroos' low effort, was the 61st consecutive time Los Blancos have scored in a game in all competitions.

Bayern achieved the same feat between 16th March, 2013 and 5th April, 2014.

In reaching the final, Real have also become the first team to do so in eight years, with Manchester United being the last team to reach two successive finals, winning the Champions League in 2008 and then losing in the 2009 final 2-0 to Barcelona at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

Should Los Blancos emerge victorious against Juventus in Cardiff on 3rd June, they will become the first team to ever successfully defend the trophy in the Champions League era and the first team to win back-to-back European Cups since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990.
