Ahead of Wayne Rooney's sixth appearance against former club Manchester United this afternoon, the 32-year-old looked incredibly focused as he lead his Everton side out of the Goodison Park tunnel.

Rooney, who won 12 major trophies during his spell at United, barely even looked at his former teammates as he stood beside Paul Pogba.

Pogba, on the other hand, looked eager to shake hands with Everton players but Rooney was having none of it.

One Twitter user said the incident highlights the difference in modern day football. Paul Pogba shook plenty of Everton players' hands in the tunnel while Rooney didn't even shake one United player's hand.

Here's how social media reacted to Rooney's focus in the Goodison Park tunnel:


Wayne Rooney lifted five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Champions League trophy during his time at Manchester United, but his 13 year spell at the Theatre of Dreams came to an end in July.

On his return, Rooney was enthusiastic about the future, saying: "I'm coming back because I feel the Club can move forward & be successful."
