In just under two months time, Conor McGregor will step into the ring with Floyd Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and we cannot wait for two of the biggest names in sport to go head-to-head.

Back in May, the UFC lightweight champion told The Mac Life: "It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management,"

"The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer's signature in the coming days."

Mayweather then agreed his part of the deal on Instagram, saying: "It's official!", while McGregor was posted: "THE FIGHT IS ON," on his Twitter page. The internet blew up and the RT's flooded in, but did 'Notorious' have anything to say before the announcement on social media?

Conor McGregor's trainer John Kavanagh appeared on The MMA Hour this week to speak with host Ariel Helwani about his fighter's chances against Floyd.

In the interview, Kavanagh told UFC expert Helwani how McGregor sent him a late night text when the Mayweather fight was soon to be announced:

"Then I got the text from him - 'It's on. 154 [pounds]. August 26th. Let's go!'

"It was kind of that simple. I thought maybe Mayweather was maybe playing a game and when he got the contract back from McGregor he thought, 'Oh, this is for real. I thought this was let's boost our social media profiles' or something like that. But it was never that for Conor."

Coach John Kavanagh also confirmed that he is confident McGregor will return to MMA after the boxing match with Mayweather.

Thank god for that!
