"Are you crazy? We never ever do that, ok?"

These were the words of a furious Jurgen Klopp, just moments after his bench decided to celebrate Andreas Christensen's 45th minute red card during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

The incident happened moments before the half-time whistle.

A clipped through ball from Jordan Henderson landed at the feet of Sadio Mane, who was then hauled down by Christensen just before he could knock it past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Danish defender, who hardly protested his innocence, was initially given a yellow card for the challenge before referee Paul Tierney consulted the pitchside monitor and changed it to a red, to the delight of Liverpool's substitutes bench.

Klopp, on the other hand, lambasted the bench for clapping and celebrating the decision.

Footage of the incident soon emerged online and many fans praised the manager for his 'classy' reaction.

After the final whistle, Klopp explained the incident in further detail.

"It was not one of my subs but another member of staff and I told him already what I think about it and he's good with that." he said.

But in the moment that's something I don't want to see."

"I saw the sending off only in the situation."Klopp continued.

"I saw Christensen's arms around Sadio so I thought in the moment it is a sending off but I couldn't see it back since then so if you have seen it differently, then I respect that.

"Would we have won it [if Chelsea had XI]? Who knows that! I thought we were good in the first half so I thought we could win it but if we would, I don't know."

Liverpool went on to dominate in the second period, with a brace from the ever-impressive Sadio Mane earning the Premier League champions a deserved three points at Stamford Bridge.
