RB Leipzig full-back Angeliño asked The Sun's official Twitter account to "have some respect" after they labelled him a "City reject" in the aftermath of their Champions League win against Manchester United.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Bundesliga side on a season-long loan from Manchester City in September, produced a quality performance against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on Tuesday night.

He not only scored the opener in the second minute - a sweetly-struck volley from a Marcel Sabitzer cross - but he caused Aaron-Wan Bissaka all sorts of problems in attacking areas.

It was an all-round solid performance from the Spaniard, who also assisted Amadou Haidara's goal, and The Sun publication recognised his goal-scoring contribution in a match round-up.

But in the meantime they labelled him a 'City reject' before pointing out that Manchester United crashed out of Europe's biggest competition.

Angeliño, in turn, decided to respond to the wording on Twitter. "What reject mate,I decided to go. Have some respect with the headline."

The Bundesliga side have the option to buy Angeliño for €18 million from Manchester City at the end of his season-long loan deal. After that performance on Tuesday night, they will no doubt be thinking hard about it.

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann is clearly a huge fan of the 23-year-old full-back turned winger.

"Angelino is only unpleasant when he doesn't play, which only happened twice this year. That pretty much describes his character," Nagelsmann said after the club's win against Istanbul in October.

"I think Yussi [Yussuf Poulsen] agrees, that he only wants to win. He is like a child that just wants to play all the time. He is almost as bad as me. I'm always playing around with a ball.

"But he just always wants to have the ball and you see him constantly shooting it. After training he wants to continue. He has a massive playing instinct and he just wants to win all the time and play around with a ball."
