Neymar 'Psyched Out' By Brest Goalkeeper's Bizarre Tactics As PSG Star Missed Dreadful Penalty

Neymar might have been put off by Brest 'keeper Gautier Larsonneur after his shocking penalty miss for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

PSG clashed with Brest at the Stade Francis-Le Ble as the French side pushed Lille's Ligue 1 title chase to the final day of the season.

However, the Parisian club failed to score in the opening 20 minutes when Neymar stepped up for the spot-kick.

Neymar produced a staggered run-up as the Brest shot-stopper remained rooted to the spot.

The 29-year-old Brazilian superstar then proceeded to roll his woeful effort wide of the right post as Lille were 1-0 up against Angers at the time.

Larsonneur might have psyched out Neymar in the build-up to the penalty as the 24-year-old Frenchman offered his opponent almost two-thirds of the net to aim at.

PSG eventually made the breakthrough in the first half after Angel Di Maria's corner kick took a wild deflection off Brest midfielder Romain Faivre.

Kylian Mbappe scored in the second half to seal a 2-0 win for PSG at the Stade Francis-Le Ble.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's men conceded the Ligue 1 title to Lille after the newly-crowned French champions defeated Angers 2-1 at the Raymond Kopa.

Pochettino arrived at PSG in January after current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was sacked by the French club in December 2020.

Speaking ahead of Lille's Ligue 1 triumph, the PSG boss insisted it would not be a failure if his side failed to retain the French league trophy.

"For a team like PSG which is involved in all competitions, not winning is always a big disappointment," Pochettino told reporters.

"It would be more of a disappointment or frustration than failure. The word failure is very strong.

"You always have to believe in football. It is a principle that we still have. We think that anything can happen but we must already win and be ready if Lille does not win in Angers.

"We are going there with motivation and the desire to believe in it. We are working in the best possible way for that."
