Gary Neville Believes Kevin De Bruyne Is A Hybrid Of Two Man United Legends

High praise indeed...

Gary Neville has paid a huge compliment to Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne by saying he is a "hybrid" of his former Manchester United teammates, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

De Bruyne shone yet again as City celebrated being crowned champions by thumping Swansea 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium, with the Belgian scoring an absolute rocket in the second half.

Due to his influence on City's stunning double-winning season, where he has eight goals and 15 assists, many still hold the opinion that KDB should have picked up the PFA Player of the Year award despite the brilliance of Mo Salah.

Neville, who like the rest of us, has been in awe of De Bruyne's displays this term, believes that the former Chelsea midfielder is the perfect blend of Scholes and Beckham.

The Scholes comparison goes way beyond hair colour as the pair are both technically superb players with a next level passing range - and a special ability to score long-range worldies.

Furthermore, there's a case for De Bruyne being the best crosser in world football, with his whipped deliveries rivalling crossing and free-kick master Beckham.

"Jamie Redknapp compared him with Paul Scholes, but I actually think he is a hybrid between Scholes and David Beckham," the Sky Sports' pundit said on his podcast.

"He can cross and pass in a whipped way like Beckham, but he can also strike and drift passes like Scholes. He has that blend of both in terms of how he plays. He's equally important to this team now as David Silva, and that's saying something because Silva is a sensational player."

Neville also added that De Bruyne and Silva, who have excelled in the advanced midfield positions, are getting to the same level Xavi and Andres Iniesta reached under Pep Guardiola.

"Jamie Redknapp said Xavi and Andres Iniesta were the best two he'd seen in those forward midfield positions, and you'd have to agree with that, they were the best I'd ever seen, the Barcelona team under Pep Guardiola," he explained.

"But Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are comparable, and that's saying something, because these are really top players. They don't waste the ball, they have the intelligence, understanding, it's a really, really high level."
