The name Timo Werner isn't household just yet, but at the age of 21, this pacey, intelligent German striker is on the verge of becoming a player to be reckoned with in European football.

Werner has well and truly taken the Bundesliga by storm this season with a flurry of impressive performances for the often criticised RB Leipzig.

Not only has he scored 17 goals in 29 games for the overachieving Die Roten Bullen, but he joins the likes of Dele Alli and Ousmane Dembele in the list of players who have the most goals & assists by under 21 players in Europe's top 5 leagues.

An impressive feat to say that he only made his debut in 2014, while becoming the youngest player ever to feature for former club Stuttgart.

Werner, who also became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score two goals in a game, is quickly establishing himself as a real force in German football and is predicted to regularly feature in the German international side after his debut against England earlier this year.

With this level of hype comes interest from potential buyers. The likes of Real Madrid, who see him as a perfect replacement from Alvaro Morata, are reportedly interested in his services.

Liverpool have also expressed an interest. The Premier League club have sent scouts to watch Werner for the last 12 months, as Klopp believes the youngster 'fits the profile' of the type of player Liverpool need to grow.

Werner will probably remain at Leipzig for another season, but in March he told BILD that moving to Liverpool would be "something special:

"If you were to play at Anfield and hear the fans sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' it would certainly be something special," Werner told Sport Bild.

"England has a different feel, but I am also still young player. I feel at home here at RB right now. Leipzig can continue to grow, and if I could be part it I'd be delighted."

What is Werner's style of play?

He has the energy levels of Jamie Vardy, but is creative like a David Silva or Juan Mata - he really does ooze the necessary skills to thrive in the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp knows that, without doubt.

Liverpool, among a number of other Premier League sides, are known for their counter attack play and Werner would slot into a side like that perfectly.

His willingness to make runs and play off the last man is proof that the Premier League is his destiny.

He's also averaging 1.15 interceptions per 90 minutes this season, an impressive stat for any forward.
