Oh wow.

Roberto Carlos was renowned for his striking ability when it came to dead ball situations, especially when he lined up to smack a free-kick so hard that even the ball looked petrified.

The Brazilian's famous 'physics-defying' goal against France in 1997 is by far his best and most memorable goal, while a number of set pieces for the Galacticos back in his glory days will always live in the memory.

But can he still take a banging free-kick, 22 years on?

Of course he can. Just look at him recreating his famous goal from France in 1997 in a back field somewhere.

Roberto Carlos' goal that day defied physics. In fact, even the man himself admits that that he has 'no idea' how he scored that famous free-kick against France in '97.

"I used to practise my free-kicks a lot." he said.

"I would stay behind in training and hit them and, on this particular occasion, it came off well for me. I just hit it and it went in." Carlos claims.

Carlos wasn't just a free-kick specialist. Let's go back in time to witness one of his most ridiculous passes ever.

The likes of Zinedine Zidane, Claude Makelele, Luis Garcia and Robbie Fowler all returned to the pitch back in June 2015, but the former defender stole the show with a single pass.

But this wasn't just any pass.

In an action packed game as Real Madrid legends came up against Liverpool legends, the former Los Blancos defender casually flicked the ball up and did this:

Maybe you should have reconsidered your retirement, Roberto.

Since that famous set piece that left goalkeeper Fabien Barthez in a daze, nobody has come close to recreating Carlos' wonderful, swerving effort - until last year. .

FC Viitorul defender Cristian Ganea netted a Roberto Carlos-esque goal during a Champions League qualifying round against Apoel FC, leaving the goalkeeper stranded.

Happy birthday, Roberto.
