Derby's Mason Bennett Scores 'Impossible' Twisting Volley And Nobody Knows How He Did It

I've seen some things in my time, but this...

There are certain things in life that make you go: "How the hell did he just do that?" - Mason Bennett's wonder strike against Wigan last night was definitely one of those moments.

Bennett somehow managed to adjust his body, improvising with a 'twist flick' to meet Scott Malone's cross from the left hand-side.

Wigan goalkeeper Jamie Jones tried his best to get a hand on the acrobatic effort but to the shock and awe of the thousands in attendance at Pride Park, this magnificent effort hit the back of the net.

I've seen a pile of goals in my time but this might just be in my all-time top 10. How has he even managed to do this?!

Just give him the Puskas Award now, for goodness sake.

Derby manager Frank Lampard was quick to praise Bennett after the full-time whistle, comparing the goal to Gareth Bale's effort in the Champions League final:

"Mason's strike was incredible and I was saying the last time I felt like that at a game was the Champions League final when Gareth Bale scored the overhead kick." he said.

"I think that goal was similar in terms of the adjustment at the last second and to score from an impossible angle is a special goal for Mason and he should savour it.

"Some cynical people will say he didn't mean it but I think he certainly did, the intention was there and his adjustment in the millisecond made that goal possible."

It didn't take long for a poll to appear on Twitter, and the goal was voted better than Olivier Giroud's effort against Crystal Palace and Henrikh Mkhitaryan's stunner at Old Trafford against Sunderland.

Then to top off a stunning night for the Rams, a 78th minute goal from Scott Malone, who provided for Bennett's equaliser, gave them all three points against Paul Cook's side.

But let's just watch that goal one more time.

Anybody else think this will win goal of the season?
