Finally football fans, our wait is over! The Premier League will be back on our screens tonight as Arsenal take on Leicester in the 2017/18 curtain raiser.

Both sides will look to get off to a flyer by shaking off any pre-season jitters to get the first three points on the board.

The opening day usually sees a few mistakes and a lot of entertainment as each side looks to start the season positively. Managers will be telling their players to go out and enjoy themselves, and we all can't wait to be entertained.

So to kick-off the new campaign, here are five of the best opening day fixtures to get you in the mood for Friday Night Football.

Wigan 0 Blackpool 4 (2010/11)

Are there many better delights in league football than a newly promoted side winning their opening day fixture? How about winning that fixture by four goals to nil? Well, that's a feat Blackpool achieved back in 2010, a better time for fans to look back on for sure
.
Goals from Gary Taylor-Flecther, Alex Baptiste and a brace from Marlon Harewood gave the Oranges the perfect start to their campaign, and even saw them sit top of the table for a few hours - until Chelsea thrashed West Brom 6-0 in the evening kick-off.

Aston Villa 3 Manchester United 1 (1995/96)

This game will be better known as the match Alan Hansen wrote off Man United's title challenge after just one week, claiming they 'couldn't win anything with kids.' Sir Alex Ferguson stuck with his academy products, most notably Gary Neville (20), Phil Neville (18), Paul Scholes (20), David Beckham (20) and Ryan Giggs (21). Recognise these names?

Fergie's young side later went on to win the Premier League and FA Cup, which is quite the achievement considering they regularly fielded a team of kids.

Aston Villa 4 Manchester City 2 (2008/09)

Another victory for the Villans over a Manchester club makes it onto the list, as a surprise hat trick from Gabby Agbonlahor sunk recently bought-out City. The Blues went into the season with high hopes following investment from Abu Dhabi-based investment, but they got off to the worst possible start.

After an uneventful first half, three second half goals from Agbonlahor and one from John Carew were enough to stun City. New signings Elano and Vedran Corluka responded for Mark Hughes' side but to no avail.

Arsenal 3 Liverpool 4 (2016/17)

Liverpool shocked Arsenal at the Emirates on the opening day of last season, in a result which got their fans believing it was once again their year. Before the game Arsene Wenger stated that his players were 'physically ready' for the challenge ahead, before contradicting himself one week after the defeat.

Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho scored sublime goals as Klopp's Reds got off to the perfect start, before slipping up at Burnley a week later.

Everton 1 Arsenal 6 (2009/10)

Putting in a good performances and getting at least a point is what most teams in the Prem would aim for on the opening day, but Everton did exactly the opposite against Arsenal in 2009. Goals from Thomas Vermaelen, Denilson, William Gallas, Eduardo and a brace from Cesc Fabregas put the Gunners six nil up, before Louis Saha scored the definition of a consolation goal.

Wenger hailed his side as possible champions following the game, although they went on to finish third, eleven points behind winners Chelsea.
