Phones + goals + assumed alcohol consumption is not a good mix, just ask Northern Ireland fan Ally McIlroy who had Niall McGinn to thank for losing his phone but the power of social media for finding it.

Northern Ireland earned themselves a brilliant and unforgivable historic first win in European Championship history yesterday when goals from Gareth McAuley and McGinn gave them an unexpected 2-0 win over Ukraine and a chance to qualify for the second round.

McAuley scored early in the game from a corner and McGinn's late goal confirmed the win in injury time sparking brilliant scenes in the crowd, none more so than for fan McIlroy who was in the stadium.

Live streaming the end of the match McIlroy dropped his phone in the euphoria of the second goal and when all seemed loss comments on Facebook and a frantic search for the phone reunited the Irishman and his technology, unsurprisingly he was pretty happy.

Ally's friends on social media came to his rescue by suggesting he follow the noise of his phone on Facebook Live to find it and they helped to point the direction:
