Clip Of Lionel Messi's 26 Assists In 2018 Is Just Wonderful Viewing

Clip Of Lionel Messi's 26 Assists In 2018 Is Just Wonderful Viewing

Someone has created a compilation of Lionel Messi's assists in 2018 and you won't be surprised to know that it absolutely slaps.

Messi scored 51 goals for club and country, which was more than any other player in world football. Another sensational year of Messi magic also means he has now netted 50+ goals in eight of the last nine years, which is just silly if we're being honest.

But Messi is not just a goalscorer, he's also the best playmaker in the world and proof of that comes courtesy of the fact that no-one assisted more goals than in Europe's top five leagues than the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

He set up his teammates on 26 occasions, two more than his colleague Luis Suarez and three more than Dimitri Payet of Marseille.

And some of those assists were just mesmeric, with Messi playing passes that you didn't even know existed and it looking like an absolute canter for the Argentine.

Former Barcelona player Gary Lineker finished 2018 by reminding us all of the insane numbers Messi achieved in the year - yet somehow he ended up coming fifth in the Ballon d'Or rankings.

We're ready for some more Messi madness in 2019 - and hopefully more recognition for a truly unique and sublime player.
