On September 14, 2016, Borussia Dortmund talent Dario Scuderi suffered one of the worst leg breaks you're ever likely to see.

In fact, doctors thought he'd never play football again.

21 months later. the Italian right-back has well and truly defied professionals by returning to training after suffering the career-threatening knee injury in a UEFA Youth League match with Legia Warsaw.

It has been a remarkable recovery by Scuderi, who has clearly trained hard to be where he is today.

Judging by the following images, it looks like the 20-year-old is ready to try and push for a first team place.

Last year, Borussia Dortmund offered to fund the studies of the injured youth player while he was out of action, a true representation of how classy the Bundesliga side are.

To put into perspective how bad the injury was, Scuderi's surgeon, Professor Michael Strobel, described it as the worst injury you could possibly imagine.

"It [was] the worst injury you could possibly imagine," Scuderi's surgeon said at the time. "Pretty much everything tore: the ligaments, all the muscle and tendons."

It was believed that Scuderi was one the verge of a place in the Dortmund first team before he suffered the career-threatening injury, so lets hope that the youngster will pick up where he left off.

The Italian uploaded the following clip to Instagram, further proof of his miracle recovery.

You've got to applaud his incredible will to fight during, what must have been, a torturous 21 months out injured.

Fair play.
