Adel Taarabt Mercilessly Destroyed Zenit Player With Disgusting Nutmeg

Adel Taarabt loves nothing more than destroying opposition players and the Moroccan did just that last night as Benfica beat Zenit St Petersburg 3-0.

The 30-year old took Aleksandr Yerokhin for an absolute mug when the Russian closed him down on the touchline, casually rolling the ball through his legs before darting down the flank.

Yerokhin knew straight away that he'd been done and couldn't help but pull Taarabt from behind and commit a foul, such was the complete embarrassment he'd suffered.

Taarabt, undoubtedly the player with the most appearances on Soccer AM's showboat, is one that he streets will never forget.

He has all the technical ability in the world and is a joy to watch when in the mood, but too often his attitude and application wasn't there and it's led to him not living up to the hype as a result.

The former Spurs and QPR man signed for Benfica in 2015 when his deal at Loftus Road was terminated, penning a five-year contract with the Portuguese giants.

He ended up playing with the club's reserve team to begin with, before joining Genoa on loan in 2017-18.

After a four-year wait, Taarabt would then make his debut for Benfica's first-team in March this year in a 1-0 win over Tondela.

The ex AC Milan and Fulham loanee was then rewarded with a new three-year contract that saw him take a 30 per cent pay cut back in August.

He's since become a fairly useful player for Bruno Lage, playing 15 times this season - including four times in the Champions League group stages.
