It Turns Out Adama Traore Isn't The Fastest Player In Premier League History

Wow.

Middlesbrough have denied that Adama Traore is the fastest man the Premier League has ever seen.

The Boro attacker apparently broke the record for the fastest sprint ever in England's top-flight during his side's clash with Arsenal.

At a speed of 37km/h, it was claimed he had broken the record previously set at 35.5km/h.

But that's proven not to be the case, with Middlesbrough moving to confirm that Shane Long's 35.31km/h record still stands and Traore actually falls into joint ninth place with a speed of 34.84km/h.

Writing on mfc.co.uk, Boro said:

"Adama Traore was the fastest man in the Premier League last weekend - but not in top flight history.

"It had been rumoured on social media that Traore had smashed the record and become the quickest man ever to grace England's top division.

"But thanks to the Premier League's official tracking data, we can reveal that Traore's 34.84km/h dash falls just short of the fastest this season.

"Traore's speed of 34.84km/h puts him in joint ninth place for the Premier League this campaign."

So he's just the ninth fastest the Premier League has ever seen? Talk about an anti-climax after all the headlines about the former Barcelona man and his performance at the weekend.

There's no denying he's fast, though, and Boro fans have every right to get excited about what Traore can bring to their team this season.

The attacker played for Aston Villa just 13 times last season before suffering relegation to the Championship. But Villa's demise offered him the chance to move to the Riverside and he's started his time there well.
