Swedish Legend Henrik Larsson Reveals His Only Career Regret

The striker was prolific throughout his career.

Henrik Larsson has revealed the only regret of his career was not staying at Manchester United longer than he did.

The Swedish legend joined United for Helsingborgs in a short-term loan deal back in 2007, and stayed at Old Trafford for just over two months.

Despite the brief nature of his stay with the Red Devils, the former Barcelona and Celtic striker became something of a cult figure amongst United fans, and it seems the affection was felt both ways.

A Champions League winner with Barca, you could be forgiven for thinking the biggest regret of Larsson's career might have failing to win the UEFA Cup with Celtic in 2003, but in an interview with FourFourTwo, via Goal, he said of leaving United: "That's the only regret I have in my career."

"I should have stayed as it would have meant I got a Premier League winners' medal and I would have stayed for one more season. But I still had a contract with Helsingborgs and I feel that when you sign a contract, you have to see it out.

"Everything was professional at Manchester United. When I had to attend a christening for my brother's children, the club ordered a plane to take me there after a match. United really take care of all their players."

Larsson turned out alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo at United and the club won the Champions League the season after Larsson departed.

Had he stayed a touch longer, it's not obscene to think he might have added another European winner's medal to his collection!
