Super Agent Jorge Mendes Has His Eyes On A New Client

All about the money!

By now we kind of figured that super agent Jorge Mendes owned all footballers' contracts as well as managers, coaches, probably some owners, a smattering of presenters and pundits and of course the dinner lady at Anfield. But the Portuguese master of contract negotiation is after another!

Incase you aren't sure amongst Mendes' clients are Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao, Diego Costa, Angel di Maria, David de Gea, Nicolas Otamendi, Thiago Silva, William Carvalho, James Rodriguez and Eliaquim Mangala all players who have gone for big money in recent years or in Carvalho's case will in the near future.

However Mendes next target is a player who might be earning a hell of a lot more than he's currently on and it's no wonder he wants a piece of the pie as he lines up a deal to become Marcus Rashford's agent.

Rashford's incredible rise this season has unsurprisingly seen Manchester United move on a new deal for the striker, whose current contract runs out next season, but the teenager is on the look out for an agent to help him in negotiations.

Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports company was also linked with trying to represent the young Mancunian who made his debut in the Red Devil's must win game against FC Midtjylland and made an instant impact by scoring two goals in the game.

Rashford could do a lot worse than have Mendes in his corner. The agent has a very good relationship with Ed Woodward and also represents Jose Mourinho, the man who is likely to become the next boss at Old Trafford.

Roy Hodgson has said this week that Rashford won't be going to the Euros in France this summer. Some would never have expected the youngster to be in the squad quoting his relative inexperience as a reason whilst others would argue that his move from little under 21s football to starter in the full team proves just why he could make the step up to international football seamlessly.

The truth is that if Hodgson wasn't too keen on using Rashford during the tournament then he's 100% right not to take him rather than end up with a Theo Walcott styled scenario, although granted Walcott's call up to the World Cup in 2006 was even worse as he hadn't played for Arsenal.

With Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy absolute musts in the squad and captain Rooney rightly guaranteed his place Rashford, like Andy Carroll, could only take the place of Danny Welbeck or Daniel Sturridge. Both those strikers have been in good form since returning from injury and are favourites of Hodgson, the strikers positions are definitely full.
