Steven Gerrard's first signing of his managerial career is from the Premier League.

The Liverpool legend is leaving his role as the club's Under 18's boss to take his first steps into management with Rangers and is tasked with providing a serious and credible title challenge to neighbours Celtic, who have been head and shoulders above everyone else for the past few years.

There's immediately been plenty of speculation as to who Gerrard's first addition would be, with several of his former Liverpool colleagues tipped to make the switch to Ibrox.

However, it's been confirmed that it will actually be Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield, as he has passed a medical after agreeing a four-year deal with the Glasgow giants.

Arfield, who was born in Scotland but plays his international football for Canada, where his father is from, made nearly 200 appearances for Burnley.

The former Falkirk man is returning to the Scottish top flight for a second stint and is expected to be officially announced as a Gers player later on today.

Rangers supporters will be hoping Arfield is the first of many signings in a much-needed squad overhaul at the club.
