Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford collectively hold a better minutes-per-goal ratio than Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool have had a blistering start to the season and are firing on all cylinders in their bid to become Premier League champions.

While Manchester United are continuing to push forward with their hopes of a top-four finish and securing Champions League football next season.

But the Red Devils trio currently have a higher goalscoring tally for the season over their Liverpool counterparts, according to The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell.

Martial, Greenwood and Rashford have collectively scored 39 times across all competitions for United.

Mane, Salah and Firmino are only one goal shy of the United front three, but they also have an inferior minutes-per-goal ratio.

Whitwell tweeted: "Tin hat time! Liverpool's front three have scored 38 goals combined in all competitions this season.

"For Rashford, Martial + Greenwood it is 39. And at a better mins/goal rate.

"Given their ages, it presents an appealing vision of the future for #mufc."

Ahead of United's 1-0 FA Cup win over Wolves on Wednesday night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he was "impressed" with his trio's performances this season.

The United boss explained: "I don't want credit, they're working hard to improve their game, all done well.

"Mason's in his first season, so to have nine goals in [in less than 20 appearances] is fantastic.

"Marcus is growing and improving all the time and Anthony has missed eight weeks.

"I'm impressed by them, working well, on finishing patterns, we want consistency and we'll see more and more of them."

Liverpool star Mane revealed back in November that his two Reds attacking teammates help "make everything easy."

The 27-year-old Senegalese winger explained: "I always say it is very easy to work together.

"Personally, I just think myself very lucky to play alongside these great players.

"Every single player who plays alongside them would enjoy it because they are very good players and they make everything easy, so I just enjoy playing alongside them."
