Things may be going better than they ever have for Spurs in the Premier League era, with one of Europe's brightest young manager's at the helm of a squad bristling with talent with Champions League football and a new stadium to look forward to. However, the good mood around White Hart Lane could be about to turn sour.

According to reports in The Times, Spurs are said to be at an advanced stage of negotiations with Qatar Investment Authority in a naming rights deal for the redeveloped White Hart Lane.

"Negotiations with Qatar's sovereign wealth fund are believed to have intensified after Tottenham learnt that the emirate's association with Barcelona is likely to end next summer."

Controversy could arise from such an association with Qatar, however, given that Tottenham have a large number of Jewish supporters and Qatar support Palestinian fundamentalist organisation Hamas.

Whether Jewish Spurs fans will wish to attend games at The Qatar Stadium' remains to be seen, but it seems as though the North London club are set to go ahead with a deal regardless.
