Sporting CP Striker Bas Dost: "I Score A Lot Of Sh*t Goals"

Fair play for the honesty...

Sporting CP striker Bas Dost has displayed some quite remarkable honesty in regards to his ability, admitting he "scores a lot of shit goals".

The 29-year old has scored 200 career goals and boasts a ridiculous record of 75 goals in 96 games for Sporting after signing from Wolfsburg in 2016.

He's a guaranteed goal-getter and an old-fashioned striker but the man himself has a hilariously blunt assessment of the sort of goals he scores.

"I score a lot of shit goals in my career, it's my job as a striker, but the goals in that game were all good goals," he told O Jogo, talking about his four-goal haul against Bayer Leverkusen in February 2014.

"It was a perfect day. In the last minute I scored the winning goal, we won 5-4 and it was an incredible result."

Dost, who also banged the goals in for Heerenveen and had a 32-goal season in the Eredivisie in 2011/12, is the definition of a fox in the box.

He rarely scores from distance, in fact Dost went through an incredible spell where he scored 64 first-time finish goals in a row.

12 goals were from the spot, 27 were headers and 25 were one-touch strikes with his feet. Pretty incredible stuff.

Sensationally, his 12th minute strike in a 4-3 win over Belenenses was the first time since March 2017 he scored by taking more than touch.

Dost rarely contributes to phases of play and often won't have too many touches in the build-up.

But while he is reliant on good-quality service as he doesn't make his own goals, his goal record really speaks for itself.
