Something Happened In La Liga Last Night That Has Never Happened Before

Real Madrid and Barcelona's feared attacking tridents fired blank last night producing a historic milestone in the La Liga.

It was the first time Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all started on the same night and none of the stars were able to find the back of the net.

Both 'BBC' and 'MSN' were on display as Real hosted Villarreal while Barca entertained Atletico Madrid.

The league fixtures ended 1-1 as neither attacking trio managed to score. Last nights game marked the 29th matchday the respective line-ups had been in action at the same time since the Uruguayans transfer to the Nou Camp from Liverpool in 2014.

The Los Blancos had the chance to create history by becoming the first Spanish team to record 17 consecutive wins though were held by Villarreal.

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique's men were denied all three points after Atleti equalized on the hour mark.
