Some Say Riyad Mahrez's Penalty Is Still In The Air Right Now

Riyad Mahrez took one of the worst penalties in recent memory at Anfield and some say the ball is till travelling as we speak.

Leroy Sane was brought down Virgil van Dijk in the area late on in the game and City's most expensive signing grabbed the ball of Gabriel Jesus, who had replaced usual penalty taker Sergio Aguero as a substitute.

City had the perfect opportunity to end their terrible run at Anfield but Mahrez, not particularly reliable from the spot, blazed his effort high into the stand.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter trolled the Algerian mercilessly for his shocker of a penalty:

The reaction of Jesus, and then Aguero on the City bench, said absolutely everything. Even though City weren't blessed with regular penalty takers on the bench, surely they had someone better equipped to step up - even Ederson in net!
