Ole Gunnar Solskjær Opens The Door For Paul Scholes At Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has extended an invitation to Paul Scholes after the former Manchester United midfielder quit as manager of Oldham Athletic.
The 44-year-old Red Devils legend left his first managerial post on Thursday, but it looks like a return to Old Trafford could happen if he would want it.
Solskjær was asked about Scholes ahead of his side's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the 46-year-old Norwegian revealed that he had been in touch with his ex-teammate since he made the decision to leave Oldham.
"He's probably got his reasons why he has left. I've texted him," he said (via Sky Sports).
"You have to ask him [what happened]. He is invited here if he wants to come and have a chat about it."
Scholes' tenure at Oldham lasted 31 days and he managed the League Two side for seven matches in his short stint.
The former Oldham boss left his position after speaking to the club's chairman, Abdallah Lemsagam, over WhatsApp.
On Friday, Lemsagam released a statement on the club's website and expressed his disappointment over the former England international quitting.
"I am disappointed by Paul's decision to resign and surprised by the reasons he has given in his statement," he said.

"Both myself and the staff at the club gave Paul all the support and autonomy that he asked for. I personally was always supportive of any decisions Paul made or consulted me on, reassuring him that he was the man in charge.
"He gave no opportunity or indications that he needed to address any issues at all. [...] I was very surprised as he simply resigned by text on Wednesday afternoon."
The United caretaker manager also revealed that he is looking forward to the international break, mainly when it comes to getting some rest and relaxation.
"I'll have a few days back home or go somewhere with the family, hopefully," he said.
"Players that have been injured need to train hard because April and May will be important. Hopefully, the rest of the team will come back fit."
Solskjær will be preparing ahead for next month's Champions League match, with the Red Devils set to host Barcelona at Old Trafford for the first leg of the quarter-finals.
Should Scholes take up Solskjær's offer?
