Cristiano Ronaldo Rolled Back The Years With Filthy Piece Of Skill From 2008

The last time we seen this happen, Ronaldo was playing for Manchester United...

Cristiano Ronaldo became the third highest goalscorer in international football history when he bagged two goals in stoppage time on a famous Friday night in Zurich.

Going into the final stages of the game, the headlines were already written. It would be the night Mohamed Salah continued his wonderful goalscoring form to beat European champions Portugal.

But the brilliance of Ronaldo, 14 years after he scored his first goal in a Portugal shirt, stole the back pages.

In all honestly Ronaldo struggled to make any real impact in the game until the brace, but that's what world class players do, time and time again.

Having said that the former Manchester United winger turned back time in the 20th minute when he produced a wonderful piece of skill reminiscent of his glory days at Old Trafford.

Just look at this fresh faced lad. I'm sure even he didn't predict the goal scoring dominance coming his way.

As you can see in the footage below, the 33-year-old casually brought it down with his left and bamboozled the Egyptian defender before producing a slick back heel.

It makes you think, surely he could produce these skills more often for Real Madrid?

Anyway, we've really, really missed this Ronaldo...

The unstoppable one has now scored 40 goals in 43 games this season and to think, plenty doubted him in the first few months of the season after a unusually slow start for club and country.

To put things into perspective, due to his struggles in the league and a four-match ban at the start of the season, Ronaldo was 11 goals behind his regular rival Lionel Messi in November.

On top of that, he was eight behind the league's second top scorer Simone Zaza.

How things have changed.

Will he eventually become the top international goalscorer of all time? Can he score another 28 goals in the remainder of his career?

It would certainly be a big challenge, but if anybody can do it - Cristiano can.
