And, on Monday night, the Netherlands secured a spot in the UEFA Nations League semi-final after a dramatic game versus Germany.

Ronald Koeman's men booked a spot in next summer's final in stunning fashion which saw the Netherlands score two brilliant goals in the space of five minutes, including a 90th minute strike from Virgil van Dijk.

His defensive partner also got people talking after what he did to Toni Kroos.

In the second-half, de Ligt channeled his inner Zinedine Zidane and skinned the Real Madrid star with a ridiculous piece of skill.

Stop it, Matthijs.

He's made a name for himself as one of the best teenagers in world football since graduating from Ajax's famed youth academy.

The defender debuted in 2016 and is now attracting plenty of interest with some of the Europe's elite keeping tabs on him.

From Barcelona, Manchester City to Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

van Dijk likes what he sees and will report back to Liverpool if they need his opinion.

"He is already very far, especially at that age," he said.

"A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.

"If they need my opinion at Liverpool, I'll give it.

"They will pay less for Matthijs! The amount for me was very high, though.

"No, in all seriousness. It's just like that and, if he ever becomes the most expensive defender, I'll be the first to congratulate him."

Will de Ligt complete a big money move away from Ajax in the summer? Watch this space.
