Music icon and Watford fan Sir Elton John sent a text to the club's executive chairman, offering a bit of transfer advice.

Scott Duxbury made the revelation that the 71-year old, a staunch Hornets fan who has a stand name after him at Vicarage Road, messaged him after the 4-0 home drubbing inflicted by Bournemouth last month.

Sir Elton told the club to bring in Burnley's Tom Heaton in between the sticks as he doesn't really rate Ben Foster, who is in his second spell with the club.

"Tom Heaton. I'd still buy him. Foster's not consistent. Love, Elton," was the text Sir Elton sent, as per The Mirror

It does, however, seem that the advice will not be taken on board. Manager Javi Gracia is backing the former West Brom and Birmingham goalkeeper and even put forward a case for him to come back into the England squad.

"At the moment, Ben is playing at the top of his game and everyone can see, from the quality of his saves, that he kept us in the game against Huddersfield early in the match and then gave us the basis to protect our lead after we scored two goals ourselves," he is quoted as saying.

"I'm not just pleased with how he is playing. I'm very happy because he has a very good attitude, helping all the players with his happiness around the place and setting an example with his experience and lifestyle.

"I don't know what Sir Elton said, and I respect all opinions, but my view is that Ben has been an important player and we are lucky to have him with us at Watford. All our players have performed to a high level and deserve to play with their national teams - including Ben."

Heaton, another former United goalkeeper, has made three appearances for the Clarets this season but has been forced to play second fiddle to summer signing Joe Hart.
