Shaktar Donetsk banked a cool £52 million following the sale of Fred to Manchester United, and it continues the clubs trend of scouting budding Brazilian players before selling their services for a hefty profit.

Fred, 25, departed Shaktar to pursue a career in England's top flight, penning a contract at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho acquires his first summer signing, fending off competition from the likes of Manchester City, among others.

While United bolster their attacking options, Shaktar will be seeking to fill the void left by Fred.

And, no doubt, the Ukrainian outfit will be searching far and wide in Brazil - where they have been extremely successful in recruiting promising talent.

The clubs top five outgoing transfers are all Brazilian stars; from Fred to Douglas Costa.

1. Fred: Manchester United - £52 million

2. Alex Teixeira: Jiangsu Suning - £43 million

3. Fernandinho: Manchester City - £39 million

4. Willian: Anzhi Makhachkala - £30 million

5. Douglas Costa: Bayern Munich - £26 million

Shaktar's ability to snap up Brazilian starlets before offloading them to Europe's elite has been very, very profitable. We're talking a financial gain of around £190 million (the combined transfers of those aforementioned players).

Their latest transfer exodus, Fred, was signed for just £13 million and sold for a reported £52 million.

Not to mention Willian and Fernandinho who were bought for a combined £26 million and eventually sold for nearly £70 million.

And the main man behind Shaktar's shrewd operation, Franck Henouda, explained the clubs policy while claiming how it's natural to offload players when tabled with an enticing offer.

"In all clubs in the world, players necessarily want to leave to find better clubs, at Paris Saint Germain, Rabiot as a player wants to leave and Real Madrid is the same," he told Sambafoot in 2016.

"A player like Douglas Costa was bought for 5-6 million and remained at the club almost five years, it is normal to sell when you receive an offer of 40 million.

"These are players who were able to grow in Ukraine in the hands of Lucescu, who has prepared them to go higher. Sportingly during 4-5 years they have contributed enormously to the club and their departure they also contributed financially to Shakhtar.

"The president and the coach Lucescu asked me to look young talents here in Brazil, players with a profile that is very technical and fast with a good brain. I am always working should the president need a reinforcement."

Who's next to leave Shaktar? Bernard? The pint-size midfielder remains heavily linked with a move away.
