Sergio Romero's wife has slammed Manchester United on Instagram in relation to the club not letting him leave.

The Argentine now sits as the club's third-choice goalkeeper after Dean Henderson was instilled as back-up to David De Gea following an impressive loan at Sheffield United in the 2019/20 campaign.

But with Everton said to be showing interest late on, his other half Eliana Guercio has not minced her words on Instagram.

Feeling he has been disrespected, she correctly pointed out that the former Monaco goalkeeper was the man in between the sticks for United's last trophy triumph and has asked for them to allow him a move away.

"Sergio Romero worked hard for this club," Eliana wrote.

"Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him. He helped the team reach four finals / semi-finals and then he was on the bench only to lose them all.

"It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!!"

It doesn't look likely that Romero will get his move on deadline day, however, with United reportedly not willing to let him go for anything less than their £10 million valuation.

The 2014 World Cup finalist was drafted in as De Gea's deputy in 2015 but has won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield and Europa League in his time at the club.

He's proved to a reliable option whenever selected, playing a total of 61 times for the Old Trafford outfit.

Despite this though, he was overlooked in three different semi-final fixtures last term by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - hence the ill feeling from Romero's wife.
